The Traveling Trader – Part 2 – Yikes
Comments (0)It has been a month since I’ve posted to the blog. I apologize for the lack of postings. I will now get back to the once a week or even more frequent postings.
The past few weeks I’ve been preparing for a winter overseas and have had just about everything go wrong possible! Including, my main laptop computer died three days before leaving the country.
In an earlier post, I described the preparations for a trader on the road. Fortunately, I took my own advice and was relatively prepared for the death of my trusty, five year old Dell laptop which functioned as my main computer. I had backed up to an external hard drive and the critical documents to an online backup. I had all of the critical program CDs with me. Since I didn’t have time to custom order a new Dell online with XP, I had to go to Best Buy which only had Vista machines! Not my first choice. Over the course of three days before I boarded the plan, I installed all necessary programs, spent a bit of time with Microsoft support and was up and running.
The good news was my hard drive from the old computer was in tact. I installed it in an external HD enclosure which makes it easy to access every file necessary right up to the date of the death of the old laptop.
I’m settled in to my penthouse condo in Medellin wth my new laptop and backup notebook laptop and ready to get back to work and manage trades and the Dynamic Traders Group business.
So, more to come in the days and weeks ahead.
